Two new series in progress #2

Anonymously Lavish - Acrylic on Wood Panel - 12" x 12"

The second series takes on a completely new direction than where I have been for a very long time since it involves figures. Although this series encompasses a stylistic approach to figures but still bold in color, the last time I studied and painted figures was back in my high school portfolio classes. This series is inspired by anonymous women from different eras. I have always been fascinated by finding random vintage photos at antique/vintage/thrift stores, and wondering who they were and what their lives were like. I am going to create a whole series where the women will be both faceless and handless, relating to their anonymousness and how women have been depicted as objects throughout time. The first piece (above) is inspired by the Victorian era and the second is inspired by the Art Deco period. Each piece will be inspired by a different era, and the fashion and color palette will correlate to the era from my perspective and what inspires me. I am very excited to see where this series will take me. I have been working on the 2nd piece for a few months now and it's nearly completed. Stay tuned!

Pinwheel Foliage - Digital Image

2013 is in high gear and I am currently working on two series simultaneously. Although they are completely different, they inspire each other and share some of the same color palettes. The first of the new series encompasses the pieces seen above. Completed last night is the the third image 'Pinwheel Foliage' that will inspire the next painting on canvas. After working on a painting for several hours and still feeling the creative itch, it's nice to be able to sit down, relax and create digitally.
